The business in the life file
If you have a business, you note three practical things. Who the accountant is, with a telephone number. Where the shares or the documents of the business are: which company, which folder, which notary keeps the deed if you know that. And who on the first day can open the door of the shop, the practice or the office, with a name and a number. That third person is a practical arrangement for the first day. It can be an employee who has a key. The line says that, no more. It does not make that person an owner or a director. The accountant remains the point of contact for the books. The folder remains where the documents can be found.
No valuation of the business. No turnover you name from memory, no price for which you would want to sell the business, and no business succession scheme (bedrijfsopvolgingsregeling). That scheme, often called BOR, does not belong in this note. You fill in no percentage, no exemption and no saving. Those are questions for the accountant and the notary at a later moment, with the documents at hand. Here it goes no further than who does the books, where the shares are and who opens the door. You name a van or stock only as a place where it can be found, not with an estimated price. An invented value is worse than an empty line. The annual accounts point to themselves through the accountant.
Passwords for the bookkeeping, the till or the business bank do not belong in the shared file. Invited readers would see them. Refer to the sealed list and to the person who may open it, if there is one. The person who opens the door does not thereby get the keys to the bank. Write that distinction in one sentence, so that no one mixes up the roles. The file appoints no heir and no executor of the business. Someone you hope for as a successor is a subject for a conversation with the notary, not an appointment in this field. Ervazo stores the names and does not send them to the accountant or the notary. If the accountant changes, you change the line the same week.
A life file is a note for later. It is not a will, not a medical instruction and not advice. The three lines about the accountant, the documents and the door help on the first day. They do not value the business and they do not arrange a business succession. An heir or an executor is not appointed here. That belongs in a notarial will. A codicil has its own, strictly handwritten form and is not this note. Ervazo sends nothing to a doctor or a notary. The person with the key opens the door. This page gives no more authority than that.
