A portal for heirs, without opening the whole file

Heirs want to know where things stand. The office does not want an internal note or a draft letter to go along. Those two wishes collide when you forward a file as a pdf or as a shared folder.

In the portal you choose, per file, what an invited person sees: the timeline, the estate inventory entries, the amounts, and whether letters are visible. A tick that is off means that layer does not come into the portal. The invitation itself stands in the correspondence. An email only goes out once that channel has been connected.

The invited person logs in with an account of their own. They see only the files for which access is switched on, and only the layers you share. A staff member who looks along as the office sees the workspace. That is a different role from the heir.

Share too little rather than too much, and switch a layer on only once the figures are right. A balance that still misses a debt hits harder in the portal than in a draft. You can also withdraw the sharing.
